Mussel jewellery

Walking the beaches in Cornwall we often find mussell shells, open and empty but still joined together. Two perfect identical shells just perfect for making matching earrings. The beads come from South Africa. I’ve been playing around with beads since long before we moved to England from South Africa and so when we immigrated in 2004, I brought along my box of beads that I’d accumulated there. African jewellery is mostly made using these small colourful beads and in their tradition, different colours mean different things.
